Arborist and Tree Services for Wheaton Homeowners

We offer a full suite of services designed to preserve the health, safety, and beauty of your landscape.

Tree Pruning in Wheaton

Proper pruning is the most important investment you can make in your trees' long-term health and structural integrity. We follow ANSI A300 pruning standards — every cut has a defined objective, whether that's removing deadwood, improving structure, managing clearance over your roof or driveway, or reducing wind loading before storm season. We develop multi-year pruning cycles so your trees are managed proactively, not reactively. For oaks, we schedule pruning outside the April-July oak wilt risk window.

Plant Health Care (PHC) in Wheaton

Our PHC programs are designed to be proactive. We are experts at diagnosing and managing the most significant threats to Wheaton's trees, including Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), Oak Wilt, Dutch Elm Disease, and fungal issues like Apple Scab. We also provide soil health and fertilization treatments.

Arborist Consultation & Tree Risk Assessment in Wheaton

As TRAQ (Tree Risk Assessment Qualified) arborists, we can provide you with a formal assessment of a hazardous or concerning tree. We also offer consulting for tree preservation during home renovations, helping you comply with the City of Wheaton's tree ordinances.

Tree Cabling and Bracing

For mature, high-value trees with structural weaknesses, removal is not the only option. We can install dynamic cabling and bracing systems to provide support, reduce risk, and preserve your irreplaceable trees.

Tree Removal in Wheaton

When a tree is dead, hazardous, structurally compromised, or conflicting with construction, removal is sometimes the right call. We plan every removal methodically — assessing the tree's lean, weight distribution, proximity to structures, and overhead utilities before making a single cut. In Wheaton's established residential neighborhoods, most removals require careful rigging to lower sections safely rather than felling. We coordinate with the city's tree ordinance and permit requirements and provide stump grinding referrals.

Wheaton Tree FAQ & Helpful Resources

Wheaton's Forestry Division has five ISA Certified Arborists on staff and prunes the city's parkway trees on a seven-year cycle. Your private trees don't get that attention unless you arrange it. We bring the same professional standard to the trees on your property.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Wheaton?

A: Wheaton's Forestry Division manages the city's 20,000+ parkway and public trees. Residents may plant or remove a parkway tree only with a no-cost Planting and Removal Permit, approved by the Superintendent of Forestry before any work begins. For trees on private property, removal does not require a permit.

Q: My large oak tree looks stressed. What's the best time to have it pruned?

A: To prevent the spread of the deadly Oak Wilt disease, it is critical to prune oak trees only outside of the active flight time of the insect vector for Oak Wilt. This is calculated by following the Growing Degree Days formula, which changes based on cumulative temperatures for the year, but typically lasts form mid April to mid Julye in northern Illinois.

Q: What is the benefit of hiring an ISA Certified Arborist?

A: An ISA Certified Arborist is a trained professional who has passed a rigorous exam and must maintain their certification with ongoing education. This is your assurance that the person managing your trees is not just a "tree cutter," but a professional who understands tree biology, soil science, and the latest industry safety and pruning standards.
